From The Library Of The Unsubscriber No.21, More Cover Oddities

Last week I wrote about some of the stranger covers I have adorning books in my library (here) and so I thought I’d continue this theme by putting together five more strange looking covers. Once again, each of the books featured here bear rather odd examples of artwork that I really like but what are your thoughts? Are these great covers or merely downright bizarre? Feel free as ever to voice your opinions in the comments.

Tangent: Have you acquired any of the Best of Soviet Science Fiction Series by Collier books, ed. Theodore Sturgeon with gorgeous Powers covers? I snagged a copy of Kirill Bylchev’s Half a Life for a few dollars but some in the sequence are pricey.

Some titles: world Soul, Mikhail Emtsev and Eremei Parnov
Definitely Maybe, Arkady and Boris Strugatsky
    The Uncertainty Principle, Dmitri Bilenkin
    Self-Discovery, Vladimir Savchenko.

I’ve not heard of these before Joachim, they sound well worth picking up though. Thanks for the heads up.

    Hi

The Biggle is unsettling, the Leiber leaves me wondering if something terrible happened in the printing process, I can see why it is uncredited. Not sure where the Mind Riders were heading.

Thanks for your comments on this crop of covers Guy, I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I was a little worried that these covers might be too odd to elicit much response but it seems that a few of you have found them interesting which is a relief. All the best.
